About Romby

On the day of September 18, 1997, a being was born to the name of Romelle Marsalis Johnson-Boykins. Later on this named was shortened to what you know as "Romby".

Romelle spent the majority of his childhood in a small town on the Gulf of Mexico called "Port Arthur,TX". He was always interested in music since his small youth days. When Romelle was a child he would always request for something that would make noise in a musical sense. One day he received a Yamaha YPG-235 keyboard for his 14th birthday and would record beats with the built in drum machine. Soon after he discovered a site known as "Soundcloud" that allowed a person to upload their own music or sounds. This fascinated him. In the beginning of year 2012 he posted a song he created by recording a beat and playing the keys live into his ipod's speaker. Romelle started using an app on his ipod to create music, then he moved onto a free online based DAW known as "Audiotool". Later he discovered "LMMS" (similar to FL Studio) and created plenty of dance tracks and remixes with the interface. After Romelle decied he wanted to improve his sound he discovered Ableton Live 9. He would spend nights and weekends trying to master the process of creating a song in Ableton. In the middle of 2013 he released a single named "This Guy" -- a simple trap beat. Month after month Romby's sound improved and he became to find himself and what his sound actually entailed. Now Romby puts emotion into every track he creates and his tracks are usually inspired by a distinguised moment in his life. He aims to create that same feeling in other people lives.
